I haven‘t visited the old haunts for around 30 years. Something I‘m hoping to change next year. Some stories I know, refer to the Aberpergwm House, now saddly destroyed. The daughter of the Family living there became pregnant by a local man, and died giving birth to a daughter. Her grave is in the form of a wedding cake, half on sacred church grounds and half on an ajoining field. Origins: Built on the site of an older house called Neuadd Pergwm, it came into the possession of the prominent Williams family around 1560. [1] (https://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/.../aberpergwym-house.../)English Civil War: Legend says Oliver Cromwell spared the estate from destruction because of a supposed family relation. [1] (https://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/.../aberpergwym-house.../)Cultural Significance: The Williams family was notable for remaining faithful to the Welsh language, making the house a historic center for Welsh culture.
