Archived: 20 October 2026 (logged-out public view; screenshot kept in the private raw archive) I'm researching my birthplace and former family farm, Great House Farm, Llandough (also known as Ty Mawr), which had been our home since 1667. Our family is Buckler (formerly Williams). If anyone has community stories, memories, photographs, or documents relating to the farm or family, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. From everything I have been able to uncover, I believe the land is still rightfully ours, despite BP and the British state obtaining possession through the courts in 1987. We were then removed from the property, and our 800-year-old home was demolished within hours. At the time, the press labelled us "squatters being evicted." CADW failed to list our 10-bedroom former coach/courthouse as Grade II, leaving it without protection from demolition. The Land Registry also registered the land in BP's name in 1983, despite the dispute. I believe this represents a major historical injustice. Several members of our family died while challenging BP's registration in 1983 and the planning permission granted in 1991. The trauma has left much of my family unable to speak publicly about what happened. My pregnant mother even suffered a dislocated shoulder while serving an injunction in an attempt to stop the demolition of our occupied home, according to declassified ITV footage that remained suppressed for 38 years. Much of the site's history has also been overlooked or forgotten. A Roman soldier buried in full armour, discovered and reported by our family in 1880; Guglielmo Marconi stayed with us while carrying out his pioneering wireless experiments in 1897; and Peerless Jim Driscoll fought his first bout in our barns. Archaeologically, the site is extraordinary. A Roman villa was discovered there in 1979, and later excavations identified what has been described as Wales' largest and most significant burial site. There has also been little effort to formally investigate the monastery believed to lie beneath the land. Today there is not even a plaque or information board explaining the historical and archaeological significance of the site. Church View Close now occupies the land with around 20 characterless houses. For me, this is not just an injustice to my family, but to the history and heritage of the local community and of Wales itself. We got it from the 1916 agricutural tenancy in 1928. It makes out our nans occupancy of our parcel is permissive. Without explicitly lying. But that ambiguity which could be later misinterprited, is misinterpreted, in the form of a 1962 order explicitly for our parcel. Which isn't enforced, only conveyed to BP in 1969 to officiate what is then a defective titile with no root. - Hywel B. Suggett's 1988 RCAHMW note says “armour” was found beneath the rear-wing floor c.1880 and “seems to be the medieval ironwork now at the National Museum.” Not documented: that it was a Roman soldier, buried in full armour, or that the surviving objects were specifically a Roman visor and lance. Current contradiction: Amgueddfa Cymru's 2026 FOI search found no accession for a visor, lance, helmet, or soldier in armour corresponding to the find. - Hywel B. And in 1878 another agreement between our home and a Marquess of Bute company, compensated our house for something. - Hywel B. (c. 2026-09): This is the land parcel we leased from WGR in 1939, to the east of our parcel. They purchased the interest in it from Marquess of Bute. (c. 2026-09): We revisited the land last week. I flew back from Argentina to stand back on our land since 1667. Which we were brutally dispossessed of in 1988. Its absurd nobody could see through BPs fraud back then. Our parcel was ours. Still is. It was never the parcel east of ours, which we leased and lost possession of. It was criminal to make our occupancy of ours parcel appear to be part of theirs and our occupancy appear to be permissive. Especially by way of stealing our disable, amputee, widow pension grandmothers paper title so she was unable to prove she owned our land in 1974. Which was a hearing that was ajourned in any case. Our ownership of the land has never been exstiguished. Possession is all that they (UK Gov & BP) awarded themselves. And what was the first thing they did after awarding themselves possession of our 800 year old county treasure home? They demolished it !!! - Hywel B.
