Thank you for your email, received on 9 February, and for outlining within it your concerns, which we have noted. Glamorgan Archives holds only the records that we have been given. We cannot make any assumptions as to whether the content of those records is accurate. And we have a duty to preserve the records which are presented to us as they are presented to us. In addition, Glamorgan Archives has an income target and, as such, we aren’t in a position to provide free copies of material in our care. ALLANOL: Daw'r e-bost hwn o'r tu allan i Gyngor Caerdydd, cymerwch ofal wrth glicio ar ddolenni. Ms Taylor, Thanks for your reply and for outlining the options available to consult the estate plans referenced. I should clarify my position, as my correspondence is not a routine request for private research access, but part of a wider and serious concern regarding possible historical misdescription, suppression, and/or concealment of material facts relating to Great House Farm, Llandough. I am currently at the Welsh settlement in Argentina, having been displaced from my ancestral birthplace in Llandough. As such, it is not possible for me to attend the searchroom in person so easy as you're 7,500 miles away, nor to “pop in” to consult records on site. Requiring physical attendance or payment for access is therefore not a practical or equitable option in my circumstances. More importantly, my concern is that certain archival descriptions, surveys, and planning-era records may themselves be inaccurate or incomplete as a result of earlier failures of disclosure. Specifically, a Roman burial reportedly discovered at Great House Farm in 1888 appears to have been treated as a “surprise” in later archaeological surveys (1978/1994), and an occupied, c.800-year-old domestic dwelling was repeatedly described in planning documentation as an “old barn” or “utility building.” These characterisations materially affected heritage protection, culminating in demolition in 1988. In that context, I am not seeking to pay for copies of records whose accuracy is itself in question, nor to participate financially in processes that may inadvertently perpetuate errors arising from that period. My intention is to place relevant public bodies on notice of a potential issue of public record integrity and heritage governance, not to obtain documents for private interest. I have written to the Senedd calling for a public enquiry too. I've notified the land registry and serious fraud teams too. I am therefore asking that my correspondence be treated as a formal expression of concern regarding the reliability and completeness of the archival record as it relates to this site, and that this concern be noted accordingly. I would also be grateful if you could advise which department or officer is appropriate for addressing concerns of this nature, where the issue is not access but potential historical misrepresentation within public records. For the avoidance of doubt, I am not alleging any impropriety on the part of current archive staff. My concern relates to historical processes and decisions, and to ensuring that those matters are properly examined rather than inadvertently reinforced. Thank you for your time and consideration.
