Subject: Re: [redacted] for Hywel Message ID: 18ddbceab5190d80 Date: Sat, 24 Feb 2024 15:49:18 +0000 From: Denise Davies <[redacted]> To: Sion Buckler <[redacted]> ============================================================ Hi Hywel,

You should write a book! My life is positively boring in comparison. I am so glad to hear about your new family and the addition of little Delyth ( you don’t hear that name very often these days, but there were two girls in my school with that name) are you welsh speaking? My husband asked because of your surname and strong welsh names. I don’t speak Welsh but my husband does.

I was a staff nurse for 25 years, went into teaching bookkeeping and payroll for 11 years and took redundancy 8 years ago and been working as a dog boarder in my home since and loving every minute. I have a cocker spaniel named Charlie- Brown who is almost 4 years old. I look after my elderly mum (who lives with us) and support my husband who is a lot older than me and is now struggling. But life is good in comparison to many people and my faith in the Bible and our ministry work as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses keeps me very busy which I love. I have been a JW now for almost 40 years! (That shocks me to write that down! Where has the time gone?)

As part of our ministry we knock doors of course but we also do public cart witnessing, you may have seen us in cities and near pedestrian areas locally and all over the world. Because my mum can no longer do the ministry she stays at home and writes letters. If the weather is particularly bad I will sometimes sit with her and write letters too which is how you came to receive one from me. In order to save her postage costs I volunteer to hand post them through the doors and at this moment in time she is systematically writing to everyone in the area you live.

We all thoroughly enjoy taking part in this work especially since after covid as many people are so worried about the future and the deterioration of society today and we love to share our hope and knowledge with anyone who is willing to talk with us.  I hope you don’t mind but I have attached a short video (just over 3 minutes long) which explains a little about our bible study courses we offer freely to people?

One of my favourite Bible promises is at psalm 37:10,11 :
‘ just a little while longer and the wicked will be no more….the meek will possess the earth and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace’

Do you have any interest in the bible yourself? Were you brought up with a religion? I would be very interested to hear your views. I know you will be busy travelling etc. but if you do have time I would like to hear your views.

Safe journey
Denise (PS what sort of dog do you have?)

Hi,

I'm sure we both have tales of life well lived to exchange. I'm perfectly open to making a new friend.

I'm not exactly sure what I've done to deserve the universe conspiring in my favour so much lately. I'm already blessed with 4 incredible best friends (2 men/2 woman) of decades. And a wife and two children.

I'm the grandson of a best actor/ 1993 Wesh Bafta award winner: Ray Smith, from the TV series Dempsey and Makepeace. His son (my uncle) started the band Tigertailz. And all the success originated at our house here on [redacted] as it happens. My father was William Buckler from Great House Farm in Llandough. (See BP Vs Buckler 1987). Our farm was next to the church in Llandough. I believe the kitchen table I grew up eating breakfast on, was the same table Marconi invented the radio while he stayed with our family.

The whole BP Vs Buckler story was local headlines at the time. But take anything you read with a pinch of salt. What I understand to have actually happened, with the war chest of information I inherited from my dad's death, was that my parents and grandparents before them, leased and worked the farm for hundreds of years. We acquired the title deeds in exchange for allowing some quarrying to be done. BP and Cotswold archeologists teamed up to try to get the treasure under our farm by trying to unlawfully evict and remove us from the equation. And after 34 years battling BP we lost our farm in court to them. And after my family and I stood there with the community, watching them bulldose our home down, BP exccevated all the Roman burials under our farm and sold the artifacts and land. My father's heart literally stopped, he fought to defend our home and family to the death.

I grew up. Moved on. I won an assisted place in Llandovery College. And went onto work in military intelligence/ cyber security and warfare.

Until in 2013 I stumbled across some things nobody was meant to see. My 36 day old son got abducted and used to try to ransom me. My options were either be silent or be party to corruption and crimes. I chose exile and refused to return until my son and I got justice.

It was a long road to justice and getting out of exile and returning home to Britain after almost a decade overseas. I immediately got a puppy, caught up with old family and friends and got some work in elderly adult healthcare with the Vale Council.

I refrained from going back up to Yorkshire and kicking that old bees nest last year. I can only hope and pray my son's ok. Instead I stayed out of trouble at my families horse farm (Newmill Farm) in Monknash.

Then unexpectedly a woman I spent my time in exile with (and loved very much), reached out to reciprocate my feelings and announced we were pregnant - And we both couldn't have been happier. She is the love of my life and woman of my dreams.

So last October I flew right back to the Caribbean island which took me a decade to escape, married my now wife (November 27th), then got us a car and villa near her families home. Then on the 27th December our daughter Delyth was born - happy and healthy. After just 3 short hours of labor too. And within a matter of hours we were all home together in our spare room/ nursery, surrounded by our family and friends.

I'm just back in Britain now to get my dog and take him back to the Caribbean with me. I'm right now arranging a ferry to Europe and I'll fly back from there. And I'm trying to arrange obtaining my medals and getting tailored for my army 1's dress/ uniform, ahead of our wedding later this year.

But a fisherman always sees another fisherman from afar. I've worked with intelligence agencies who would love your methods of communication. Feels very revolutionary to hand deliver a letter. I could take some pigeons to the other side of the pond if you want and we can expand that modus operandi.

I look forward to hearing anything you might have to say. My new friend.

Speak soon,

Hywel

Hi Hywel

Thank you so much for taking the time to email me, I really appreciate it, it’s good to know that the time we spend writing letters are not for nothing.

I hope you don’t mind, but I have attached a link to an article on our website jw.org, please forgive me for not including the web site in my letter,  that was an oversight on my part.

Hopefully,  you will see that I was talking generally about the hatred so prevalent throughout the world and not focusing on one house or street. The Bible’s predictions about its increase is very significant for the days we live in and forms part of a group of signs we are told to look out for. If you wanted to search on the web site for ‘signs of the last days ‘ you will see for yourself what I mean.

I don’t wish to dwell on negative things all of the time though, so please may I encourage you to also look for ‘what does the future hold’ and you will see the good news that we are trying to help people see in order to strengthen their hope that there are better times soon to come.

I am intrigued as to why you were in exile but I don’t wish to pry, but glad to hear you are back in the UK and hopefully safe and well.

If you would like to continue our conversation, I would be very happy to do so through email, text or face to face whatever you are more comfortable with or you can continue to browse the web page and contact me if you have any questions you would like to ask.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this,
Hope to hear from you again

Denise,

Thanks for your letter today.
Very kind and inspiring words.
And a very admirable and courageous act.

I'm actually not long back in Britain from 8 years in exile overseas. So this is a very meaningful message.

I am curious - is this letter in response to hatred originating from our house, houses on our street or this area?

You also mention a website.
I will look it up. But what is the URL?
