We are reviewing your request and will respond as soon as possible and within the statutory deadline of 17 November 2026. Kind regards FOI Team LGA From: Sion Buckler <[email redacted]> Sent: 20 October 2026 01:19 To: FOI and DPA <[email redacted]> Subject: Request for information – LGA and predecessor associations: guidance to councils on land with disputed title; any record of Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr, Llandough Dear Local Government Association, I am researching the history of Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr, Llandough-juxta-Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, and how public bodies dealt with the farm and the land around it from the 1950s onwards, including the registration of land near the farm as a village green in 1970 and the later housing development of the farm site. My aim is to identify and preserve every surviving record. I make this request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, in line with the LGA's published freedom of information policy. If the LGA considers that the Act does not apply to it, I would be grateful for a reply on a voluntary basis. Please provide: 1. Any guidance, circular or advice note issued to member councils by the LGA, or by its predecessors (the Association of County Councils, the Association of District Councils and the Association of Metropolitan Authorities, and their pre-1974 forerunners), between 1965 and 2000, on: (a) acquiring, accepting, leasing or granting planning permission over land whose title was disputed or unregistered, or where an occupier claimed title by possession; (b) registering land as a town or village green under the Commons Registration Act 1965 where its ownership was disputed or unknown. 2. Any record mentioning Great House Farm, Tŷ Mawr, Llandough, Western Ground Rents Ltd, BP Properties Ltd, or the case BP Properties Ltd v Buckler (Court of Appeal, 1987). 3. Whether the LGA holds the archives of those predecessor associations and, if not, where they were deposited. 4. If any of the above was held but has been destroyed or transferred: when, under which retention schedule, and on whose authority. A "not held" answer to any part would be just as helpful. A reply by 17 November 2026 would be much appreciated. Thank you for your help.
