Subject: FOI request — Historic England: records of Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr, Llandough (Wales), including an item transferred to RCAHMW on 15 January 2018 From: Sion Buckler Direction: sent Date: Tue, 20 Oct 2026 00:19 UTC Institution: Historic England Refs: none Archive id: gm-1a156ad030c56a7f ------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Historic England Access to Information team, This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I am researching Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr, Llandough-juxta-Penarth, near Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. The farmhouse was surveyed in 1974 by H.J. Thomas of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales (RCAHMW), was the subject of a listing decision by Cadw in 1988, and was demolished on 6 December 1988. My aim is to identify and preserve every surviving record of the building and of the decisions made about it. Although the site is in Wales, RCAHMW's records show that Historic England held material about it. On 10 June 2026 RCAHMW told me (their reference RC26-0205) that one of the records in its archive about the site, archive number 6500905 (creator recorded as Dr Katherine Watson), was "Transferred from Historic England as part of an exchange of material between the two organisations", with an accession date of 15/01/2018. Please provide: 1. The record of that transfer as it relates to this item, or to Llandough: the transfer list or schedule entry, its description, and any covering correspondence. 2. How and when Historic England (or English Heritage, RCHME or the National Buildings Record before it) acquired the item: the accession or registration record, the source or depositor, and the date. 3. Whether Historic England kept any copy, digital image, catalogue record or index entry of the item, or of any other material about the site, after the transfer; and if so, a copy. 4. The record of the decision to include this item in the 2018 exchange: the date, the role of the officer who authorised it, and the basis. 5. Any other information you hold about Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr or its buildings, including photographs, survey notes, and any correspondence with Cadw, RCAHMW or the Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust about its listing or its demolition (1986–1989). Search terms: "Great House Farm", "Tŷ Mawr", "Ty Mawr", "Llandough", "Penarth". 6. If anything within items 1 to 5 was held but has since been destroyed or transferred elsewhere: when, under which retention schedule, and where it went. A "not held" answer to any part would be just as useful as a positive one. If anything is withheld, please name the exemption relied on for each part. Please reply within 20 working days, by 17 November 2026. Yours faithfully, Sion Buckler (Ret'd Sergeant) Royal Signals Cyber/Electronic Warfare Professional https://greathousefarmwiki.wordpress.com
