Subject: RE: Request for burial / parish register entries – William Buckler (1990) and related records (Mary Doreen Williams) From: Brito, Alexis Direction: received Date: Mon, 24 Aug 2026 21:52 UTC Institution: Glamorgan Archives Refs: none Archive id: gm-1a035c288e566f41 ------------------------------------------------------------ Ref: 2026 – 3769 Dear Sion Buckler, Thank you for your e-mail received 20th August regarding your research. Staff at Glamorgan Archives can confirm that the burial register we have for Michaelston-le-pit only goes up to 1980 so you would need to contact the parish about more recent burials. We do not have any registers for the relevant dates for Dinas Powys either but we do have a register that goes up to 2009 for Llandough that could be searched: [postcode redacted]/3/3 . You are welcome to visit us to view any documents of interest in person at Glamorgan Archives. Due to limited availability in our research room, you will need to book in advance via e-mail (please provide references of documents that you would like to access on your visit). Also, if you have not visited the archives previously you will need to register with us. So please bring identification with you in the form of a drivers license/passport and utility bill. Our opening times are as follows: Tuesday 09.30 – 12.30 and 1.30 – 4.30 Wednesday 09.30 – 12.30 and 1.30 – 4.30 Thursday 09.30 – 12.30 and 1.30 – 4.30 Alternatively, staff at Glamorgan Archives would be happy to carry out research on your behalf, for which we make a charge of £60 (including VAT) for up to one hour’s work, payable in advance. The following are accepted payment methods: * Online payment – details on request * Cheque, in sterling and drawn on a British bank, made payable to Cardiff Council * Postal Order It will help us in answering your research enquiry if you can be concise in identifying exactly what you want. Keeping it short and accurate will save us time and avoid the risk of duplicating research. State exactly what you want us to do and identify specifics such as names, dates, and places. But only supply information that is relevant to your enquiry. You can complete the necessary form here: research-application-form-2025.doc We would also suggest contacting municipal cemeteries for the areas. Please let us know if you have additional queries or would like to use any of our services. ALLANOL: Daw'r e-bost hwn o'r tu allan i Gyngor Caerdydd, cymerwch ofal wrth glicio ar ddolenni. Dear Glamorgan Archives, I am researching the deaths and burial arrangements of the following individuals and would be grateful for any assistance with parish / burial registers or related records in your custody: 1. William (Billy) Buckler - Died on or about 29 May 1990 at Llandough Hospital, aged 41 - Interred at St Michael’s Church, Michaelston-le-Pit (funeral service at Bethesda Chapel, Dinas Powys on 5 June 1990) - Contemporary reports confirm burial at St Michael’s rather than the family resting place at Llandough. 2. Mary Doreen Williams - Born 10 August 1913 - Death registered March 1983, South Glamorgan (Vol 28, Page 3029) - Any burial or related parish entries that may connect her to the Llandough / Michaelston / Dinas Powys area or the Buckler family would be of interest. Please advise what registers or indexes are held for St Michael’s, Michaelston-le-Pit and nearby parishes for the relevant periods, the procedure for obtaining copies or transcripts, any research service fees, and how best to proceed. Thank you for your help. Yours faithfully, Sion Buckler (Ret'd Sergeant) Royal Signals Cyber and Electronic Warfare Professional and Life Member ********************************************************************** The Council welcomes correspondence in Welsh, English or bilingually.
