Subject: RC25-0464 - Information related to Great House Farm, Llandough From: Dr Adam Coward Direction: received Date: Wed, 26 Nov 2025 12:48 UTC Institution: RCAHMW (Royal Commission) Refs: RC25-0464 Archive id: gm-19ac0350c6c1fde3 ------------------------------------------------------------ Good afternoon, Thank you very much for your enquiry. While we cannot advise you on a legal case or undertake a review of historical decisions, pleas note that we do hold information and archives related to Great House Farm, Llandough. The site entry and description for the site in the National Monuments Record of Wales can be seen online on Coflein, here: https://coflein.gov.uk/en/site/20182. We hold 14 archives related to the site, a list of which can be seen here: https://coflein.gov.uk/en/site/20182/archives?size=25. These archives can be viewed in our Search Room, located in the National Library of Wales, which is open Tuesday through Thursday, 9:30-16:30. If you would like to view the material in person, I would advise arranging with us beforehand so that we can prepare the material ahead of your visit. Some of the material is on microfiche and as we do not have a microfiche reader in the Search Room, we will need to liaise with the National Library Reading Room staff to try to negotiate the use of their machines ahead of your visit. While it is possible to order scans of material using the attached order form, we may be unable to provide research-quality scans or photographs of some of the material, such as the material on microfiche, which would require high-resolution scanning at a cost of £20 per scan. Moreover, many of these records remain under third-party copyright, and we would only be able to provide scans or copies for personal, non-commercial research. Other uses, such as use in a legal case or report would likely require the permission of the copyright holder(s). I would therefore advise arranging to view the material in person rather than ordering scans, if possible. In addition to the information and records which we hold, there are several related records in the Historic Environment Record maintained by Heneb, which related to excavations, mostly concerning the cemetery/burial site: * https://archwilio.org.uk/arch/query/page.php?watprn=GGAT03584s&dbname=ggat&tbname=core * https://archwilio.org.uk/arch/query/page.php?watprn=GGAT03583s&dbname=ggat&tbname=core * https://archwilio.org.uk/arch/query/page.php?watprn=GGAT03586s&dbname=ggat&tbname=core * https://archwilio.org.uk/arch/query/page.php?watprn=GGAT03585s&dbname=ggat&tbname=core Thank you very much again for your enquiry. Learn why this is important Sir/Ma'am, I am your constituent, living in Dinas Powys. I am writing to request your assistance in reviewing a historic legal matter involving my family: BP Properties Ltd v Buckler (1987), relating to Great House Farm, Llandough. My family lived on, cared for and claimed to own that farm for generations. The events surrounding the 1987 case resulted in the loss of our home and land, and left several members of my family deeply affected. Recent research I have undertaken has revealed significant procedural inconsistencies, historical irregularities, unanswered questions regarding corporate identity, unverified service of key documents, and heritage considerations relating to the site. I have attached a short report summarising SOME of these issues. I am requesting your help in identifying the appropriate bodies-legal, historical, or governmental-who may be able to independently review the historical record to ensure fairness, accuracy, and transparency. My interest is not solely personal; Great House Farm has a heritage significance to Wales, including documented accounts that Guglielmo Marconi stayed there while experimenting with early radio technology. I believe this should form part of our preserved historical record. By way of background, I am a veteran and have served both in the Armed Forces and recently with the Vale of Glamorgan Council. My intention is simply to seek clarity, proper review, and justice where appropriate. I would be grateful for your guidance on the correct avenues to pursue. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response. Yours sincerely, Sion Buckler [address redacted] Dinas Powys [postcode redacted] Tel: [phone redacted]
